Five Virtual Run Tips

Since the pandemic hit, more and more events are virtual, especially runs. What exactly is a virtual race? The entered race can be run at any location and at any pace. Let’s take a look at five tips to help you run or walk virtually!

  1. Practice social distancing when running. Choose a location or time of the day (during the week) in which your route will not be as crowded. A good time to run the dual path that circles the Park is during the week, when you will encounter fewer fellow runners.

  2. Choose your route, mix it up! Check out several of these routes in Forest Park or these suggestions from our friends at the Great Rivers Greenway and GO! St. Louis.

  3. Tell your friends or family to cheer you on along your route.

  4. Check the weather! The best part about running or walking a virtual race is that most of the races have multiple weeks in which it can be completed. This means you get to choose the weather.

  5. Share your accomplishments on social media using #ILoveForestPark5K or the race page with your time and a selfie.

Forest Park Forever’s I Love Forest Park 5K — the only run in Forest Park whose proceeds support its care — is virtual this year. The 2020 5K starts Sunday, August 23 and finishes Sunday, September 13.  Distances include a 5K and a 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run. When you run with us, you will directly support Forest Park Forever's care of these 1,300 acres that are so vital to our community.
