Guided Tours

Forest Park Forever offers a wide variety of free walking tours throughout the year. Explore the "heart of the park," learn about the many wildflowers found in the Park's Nature Reserve System or revisit the past on an historical tour with one of our knowledgable volunteers.


Heart of the Park Walking Tours

select Fridays | 9:30-10:30 a.m.

  • FREE to the public
  • Bring your family, friends and leashed pets
  • Tours last approximately one hour
  • Pace is leisurely; covers up to 1.5 miles
  • Reservations are not required
  • Dress appropriately for the weather
  • Held rain or shine (may be canceled in severe weather or at staffs’ discretion)

Wildflower Walks in Forest Park

Last Tuesday of select Months from April-October | 5:00-6:30 p.m. 

Join Forest Park Forever's Nature Reserve Steward Josh Wibbenmeyer for informal, fun and educational plant walks that will explore the many native wildflowers found within the Park’s Nature Reserves. More than 500 native plant species occur within our Nature Reserves, and we are discovering more every year. Come out for a walk to test your knowledge, learn about the amazing diversity found within the hidden gems of Forest Park and maybe make a new discovery yourself. All ages and skill levels are welcome. 

  • Walks typically cover 1-1.5  miles of easy to occasionally moderately difficult walking trails
  • Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather
  • No special equipment is needed, but feel free to bring field guides, a hand lens and/or a camera. 
  • Registration is preferred – RSVP to Ellie Stevens at estevens@forestparkforever.org

Volunteer-led Tours

Join us for a walk in Forest Park!

  • Walking tours are leisurely paced and cover approximately 1.5 miles.
  • Tours typically start and end at the Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center - 5595 Grand Drive in Forest Park.
  • We suggest attendees dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Held rain or shine (may be canceled in severe weather or at staffs’ discretion).

Then & Now Tours

Learn about Forest Park's part, present and future.

  • These tours take place by request on Thursdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., May - July.
  • Reservations are required. Email historytours@forestparkforever.org by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday the day before the scheduled Thursday 9:30 a.m. tour. Please provide your name, cell phone and the number in your party. A volunteer will confirm your tour.
  • Tours meet in the lobby of the Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center - 5595 Grand Drive in Forest Park - 5 minutes before tour start time.

Guided Group Bus Tours

A dedicated, friendly and knowledgeable pool of volunteers offer hop-on tour guide services to groups and organizations that have their own transportation.

  • Group/organization must provide their own transportation and driver. In order to best serve both the group and volunteer guide, transportation is required to have an amplified sound system as well as air conditioning.
  • Tours take approximately an hour to complete, depending on Park traffic conditions.
  • Tours are scheduled based on volunteer availability, at a mutually agreeable date and time and must be arranged at least three weeks in advance.
  • There is no fee; however, a donation to Forest Park Forever is highly appreciated.

Guided Group Walking Tours

A dedicated, friendly and knowledgeable pool of volunteers offer group Walking tours.

  • These tours are led by Forest Park Forever volunteers.
  • Tours are scheduled for small groups (up to 10 people for walking tours).
  • Tours are scheduled based on volunteer availability, at a mutually agreeable date and time and must be arranged at least three weeks in advance.
  • There is no fee; however, a donation to Forest Park Forever is highly appreciated.
